Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and moving throughout most of her childhood, various cultures influence Samara Cyn’s unique style and rasp. In 2019 while away at University she began writing music and performing her poetry at spoken word events throughout Arizona. It didn’t take long for those open mic gigs to turn into opening invitations and headlines for artists and venues such as Teddy Swims, Tory Lanez, House of Blues in Houston, Valley Bar, and Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix.

 

Samara’s concepts are rooted in internal conflicts with self, society, and peace itself while it is communicated with a deep respect for poetry. While her message and voice are quite different from the current trends, what truly sets her apart is her knack for fitting smoothly into the pockets of various styles of production. Her cadences are original, but no artist is without influence. Cyn has named some of her inspirations to be Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Missy Elliot, Slick Rick, JID, and Kendrick Lamar.

 

Samara Cyn is now based in Los Angeles with a goal to inspire others to follow their dreams, remain introspective, and challenge the status quo. BG Productions offers songwriting services and creative direction/producing for music videos.
